Identify the kind of cut-off mark
Different admission notices can refer to different thresholds. An institution may describe who is eligible to apply, while a programme may have separate requirements. Do not turn a broad minimum into a promise that every course accepts that score.
Verify the session and the programme
For each university choice, record the intended course, academic session, accepted subject combination, O-level requirements and the current screening instructions. Consult JAMB’s official resources and the institution’s published notice. If they appear inconsistent, ask the institution to clarify before making a registration decision.
Check any aggregate formula before using it
Do not use an online calculator unless its formula matches the institution’s current published method. A calculation for one university or session may not apply to another. Reflection Academy practice scores are learning feedback; they are not official screening results or an admission aggregate.
Use your target to plan revision
Set an ambitious personal target, diagnose your weak topics and revise consistently. Balance work across the subjects relevant to your examination. Compare practice attempts using similar conditions, then ask an instructor for help with persistent gaps. Meeting an eligibility minimum alone does not guarantee admission.
A worked example to try
Reflection Academy original example—not a reproduced past-exam question.
Original target-planning example: Your mock score is 180 and your personal target is 240. What is the gap?
240 − 180 = 60 marks. This is a personal revision goal, not a published university cut-off mark or a prediction of your eventual examination score.
Common questions
Is the JAMB minimum the same as a departmental cut-off mark?
Do not assume they are the same. Check what the official notice calls the requirement, which course it applies to and the academic session.
Can Reflection Academy guarantee admission if I reach my target?
No. Admission decisions belong to the authorised admissions bodies and institutions. Academy practice and tuition support your preparation.
Where do I check current cut-off marks?
Use JAMB’s official information and the current admissions notice of each university or institution you are considering.
